Easy to use tool to extract part of the video and save it in same or different format. Supports AVI, WMV, MOV , DIVX, ASF, 3GP, MP4, MPEG1, MPEG2, VCD-PAL ,VCD-NTSC, SVCD-PAL, SVCD-NTSC, DVD-PAL, DVD-NTSC and other formats.
Pros: This is a part of a larger toolkit from the publisher. The toolkit consists of cutter, joiner, fake webcam and other applications. What this application lets you do is to the ability to cut out lengths of video clips from out of a DVD content, a movie or whatever the source of the video is. This sipped out part can be saved in one of several formats supported by the program. The interface is simple and easy. You pick the file to be used. Browsing is integrated so that you could browse and select the file you want to cut out pieces from. The input files could be in any one of the formats AVI, WMV, MPEG, MOV, MP4, 3GP and ASF. You then pick the output format from the radio buttons provided. The formats one can choose from are AVI, WMV, MOV, Quicktime, DVD, VCD and SVCD. What’s left then is to pick the start time of the scene and the end time of the clip you want to cut out. It can cut and save a region from any video file or cut the movie file into two parts at a certain scene. Leave the scenes you need, delete the ones you don`t. Advanced settings let you tweak file format, video bit rate, video frame rate, audio bit rate and audio sample rates. You can set the video size you want to record the edited piece to and specify resize type such as letter box or whatever is required.
Cons: One needs to check all combinations of the formats being handled to find if there’s a problem. User feedback would be a good way to check on that quickly.
Overall: Nice and simple wizard that does the job this application is good at a 2 star level.
